Ksenia Redina

Ksenia Redina

Ksenia Redina, mixed media artist, curator and gallery owner. She was born in the USSR, in the Kirov region, in the city of Kotelnich, in 1984. In 1996, I graduated from a local art school in the Kotelnicheskiy district, Leninskaya Iskra village from the founder Lyudmila Anatolyevna Korets, who would become a mentor and later the ideological inspirer of my online gallery and the artist community in Russia. She also graduated from a music school with a piano class. And although the creativity of childhood surrounded me, because at home there were many books on science and art, as well as foreign literature (mom is a music teacher, dad is a teacher of foreign languages). I even remember that in my parents' house, above the piano, there was a reproduction in a gold baguette of the Madonna and child «Madonna Litta» by the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. Mom took me to ballet and performances, exhibitions, and Dad taught me English. Despite the creative environment, the love of foreign languages and the opportunity to explore the world and travel outweighed creativity. In 2005, I received a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from the Faculty of Translation in Kirov. In 2007, in Moscow, she received a diploma in translation at the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the Modern Humanitarian Academy. But creativity is always present in my life in one form or another. In my youth, I was interested in photography. And later as a graphic designer. Visiting museums, concerts and exhibitions was not only a hobby for me, but also a way to relax and get new emotions and impressions after working in the office. In 2017, I moved to Finland. I have fully devoted myself to my family and raising two children, and I continue to travel. I draw a lot with children and make crafts out of plaster. I'm looking for myself and trying to work in graphic design. In 2021, after visiting the Swiss Alps, she began painting with acrylic and putty. A few months later, the first group exhibition took place in Italy and an agreement was signed with an Italian gallery, which lasted for 2 years. In the same year, I was writing at the Illusion studio, honing my skills. In 2023, he completed the course «Art and Heritage Management» at Bocconi University, Milan, Italy. In 2023, she opened the online gallery KRs Art Gallery and founded the LuKs art community in Russia (VK). Organizer of virtual exhibitions and physical exhibitions with his gallery abroad. During my career, I have participated in dozens of exhibitions. Among the highlights are the following: Luxembourg Art Price recognized my work in 2022 and awarded me a certificate of artistic achievement, and I took 1st place in the travel photography competition at Art Week in St. Petersburg in 2023. The Expressive Abstractions of Ksenia Redina project The works are grouped from mini-series in different genres: landscape, portrait and styles — abstraction, expressionism and cubism, which express the main essence of the artist's work.: «I can say with confidence that I am an experimental artist. I like to leave room for improvisation: thoughts and emotions, creating works without sketches and working only on the development of ideas. This gives the painting life and movement, momentum. I experiment not only with styles, but also with artistic materials. In one series of works, almost all the materials I have were used: dry and oil pastels, acrylics, markers, putty, sequins, various brushes, sponges, palette knife. Some works are done without a brush, sometimes there are no paints at all, only putty and potal. I make photographs and sculptures out of plaster. I love everything related to art. I am very inspired by traveling, which gives me new emotions. Getting to know the culture of another country, traditions and customs, lifestyle and history changes the way you look at the world and familiar things. New experiences provide food for the mind and creativity. For example, after a trip to Venice for the 2022 Biennale, the idea arose to create a series of works of fabulous flowers. The idea was embodied in three diptychs and was called „The Wondrous Garden of fabulous flowers.“ The nature of Switzerland inspired me to create paintings. And it continues to inspire to this day, creating the basis for various subjects, namely the presented series of works „Vivid Landscapes“, „Shadow Play“ were created in Switzerland.» The two paintings «Five Corners» and «Rectangles» from the artist's Shadow Play series were compared with the works of Kazemir Malevich: «Remembering the artist Kazimir Malevich, Ksenia emphasizes the importance of geometry in art, giving her canvases a pure and innovative sensitivity and drawing inspiration from the emotional and mental sphere. The figures characteristic of geometric abstractionism are completely free from any traditional elements of painting.: Thus, the artist explores the essence of their „plastic nature“, striving for the truth. Related to all this is the use of tonal contrasts: colors such as pink or orange, turning into red, are combined with even cooler shades such as black and gray, which further emphasizes geometric compositions.» The curator is Alesia Perone. The works «Spectrum», «Clowness», «Curtsy» are made in the Cubist style and represent a creative experiment of the artist in the study of the lessirovka method. When one layer of paint is applied to another and by superimposing colors on top of each other, a depth of tone is created. But Ksenia also forms a contour, light, shadow and shape. The work «Golden Autumn» is also made in the Cubist style. Triangles — petals form a bright flower bud. The work consists of 4 parts and fits together under a common frame.
